The Outpost is a space dedicated to our teens/tweens, ages 10-18, offering scheduled creative workshops; open activities like basketball, tetherball and other games; and simply a safe space to chill together. Open daily 11am-7pm

Chill Collective
Chill Collective is a collaborative space to give you a creative outlet. Board games, art and cards, come to connect with your community on collective projects! Thursday 4pm & 6pm

Screen Printing
Spreading love and light through creating, Jen Davila hand-prints all of her magical art. Come learn the technique of screen printing with this designer from western NC. Thursday 5pm

Hooping with Jordan
Start your day with a morning hoop jam led by longtime hooper, Jordan! Learn essential on- and off-body techniques, build your flow, and start nailing your favorite tricks to impress your friends. Friday 11am

Camp Skills
Learn must-have camping skills like knot-tying and how to safely start your own fire with Stephen Hatch, our expert in outdoor fun. Friday 3pm

Fairy Lights
In this magical workshop, upcycle common materials into whimsical lanterns and houses that can light up your campsite and your life. Friday 4pm

Percussion Building
Johnny
is back at Shakori Hills with his love & skills in percussion! Join us to make hand-crafted percussion instruments out of cured and cut bamboo. Friday 5pm

Penny Stove and a Pot
Join Trinlay of Arise Event Services and learn how to build your very own penny stove, a great tool when trekking out in the wild. Each participant will have a chance to create their own stove and concoct tasty treats. Friday 12pm

Eco Printing & Natural Fiber Dying
Connect with the Earth while creating unique art! 
Using beauty supplied by nature, watch your projects come to life as Rebecca explains how the sun and plants affect the fibers that make our world. Friday 1pm

Open Mic Night
Show off your passion with your friends at The Outpost. Johnny Albright, a versatile and talented local NC musician, will host a fun and casual open mic night. 
We invite families to come support our teenagers perform. Friday 6pm

Kaleidoscope Making
Watch your creativity and colors combine when our very own girl with kaleidoscope eyes, Andrea, guides you through the process of creating this timeless treasure. Saturday 11am

Tie Dye
Join Rebecca Benson from Blooming Bear Dyes to make the coolest tie-dye around with fiber-reactive liquid dyes. Inspired by nature and the Earth’s vast array of rainbow colors. Choose from a range of sizes and designs. Saturday 2pm & Sunday 12:15pm

Leather Working
Come learn Leather Making 101 with Coty Bleakley. Coty is a tradesman that practices old craftsmanship like carpentry and leatherworking. Take home a new skill and classic tradition. Saturday 12pm

Song Writing
Join Laura Jane Vincent, touring artist and CEO of NC record label Street Place Entertainment, for a fun, stress-free Song Catcher Suite workshop where you’ll learn to create your own original song with a simple, step-by-step approach. Saturday 3pm

Hoop Knockout Basketball Tournament
Flex your shooting skills against others in this classic Knockout tourney. Last players standing win prizes and bragging rights! Divided into age groups. Saturday 4:30pm

Interactive Intro to Interesting Instruments
Say that five times fast! Come to learn and play the wonderful instrument oddities graciously provided by Scale Street Music. Rachel Amick is a talented jazz vocalist, multi-instrumental musician, and dedicated teacher who we are excited to host! Saturday 6:30pm

Kung Fu
Dive into Chinese Martial Arts as Maestra Imari guides you through fundamentals and core philosophies of Kung Fu, including both the mellow and active sides. End with breathwork/meditation. Sunday 11:15am
